Lamwo tops in murder cases in Aswa Region

Despite arrests being made, the suspects have not yet been brought before the court.

Lamwo: Lamwo District has emerged as the leading area in the Aswa East Region for reported murder cases, according to regional police reports.

Over the past month, the district has registered more than four murder incidents, drawing attention to growing concerns within the local community.

Inspector Oloya Joe, the Acting Aswa East Regional Police Spokesperson, noted that several of the suspected murders seem to stem from frustrations and alcohol abuse among residents.

He urged the public to reduce excessive alcohol consumption and seek counseling services during difficult moments. Despite arrests being made, the suspects have not yet been brought before the court.

Mr. Olweny Emmanuel, also known as Angatal, emphasized that many of these killings appear to be connected to land disputes. He called on community members to avoid taking matters into their own hands and to resolve such conflicts peacefully.

Recently, the greater Madi Opei region witnessed two separate murder cases one in Lokung and another in Padibe Town Council. These incidents have heightened concerns about violence in the area.

For anyone seeking assistance or wanting to discuss any matters of concern, Lamwo residents are encouraged to reach out for help, as the police and local leaders work towards creating safer communities.
