Masindi RDC Nandinda vows to fight corruption as he takes over from Ngabirano
“If we come together and agree, we will achieve great results. When we say someone needs to be held accountable, we must work collectively.”
Masindi: Darius Nandinda, the new Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Masindi, has pledged to intensify efforts against corruption in the district.
In his inaugural speech on November 1, 2024, he emphasized his commitment to transparency and accountability, urging district officials to cooperate with his office to tackle corruption.
Having recently transferred from Fort Portal City, Nandinda underscored his readiness to work closely with the security committee, stressing that a unified approach is essential to addressing misuse of government funds.
He stated, “If we come together and agree, we will achieve great results. When we say someone needs to be held accountable, we must work collectively.”
Nandinda also expressed gratitude to President Museveni, attributing Uganda’s development to the peace and stability upheld in the country, which has made Uganda a desirable home for people from neighboring nations. He assured that his administration would not tolerate any threats to this stability, asserting, “Uganda is very safe, and even those in opposition are aware of it.”
The outgoing RDC, Emmy Ngabirano, who served in Masindi for nearly three years, formally handed over his duties, calling upon district leaders to support Nandinda in delivering effective service.
Ngabirano, who has been reassigned to Bushenyi District, reflected positively on his tenure, highlighting achievements in security, government project monitoring, and community mobilization.
Masindi LCV Chairman Cosmas Byaruhanga welcomed Nandinda, expressing his own dedication to the anti-corruption efforts and promising full support to the new RDC.
Ngabirano’s transfer
Emmy Ngabirano, the outgoing RDC of Masindi, was transferred to Bushenyi District last month after serving nearly three years in Masindi. He takes over from Robert Atuhairwe, who was suspended due to allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a minor.
Ngabirano described his transfer as a routine duty and reflected positively on his achievements in Masindi, including the monitoring of government projects, community mobilization, and the enhancement of district security.
He encouraged Masindi residents to remain united and continue supporting government programs aimed at improving household income. “I encourage the people of Masindi to stay united and support the initiatives focused on improving household income,” he stated.
Previously, Ngabirano served as the RDC of Apac District, having replaced Rose Kobusinge Kirabira in early 2022.
