Kampala: Tragedy struck the Uganda Premier League on Friday when Assistant Referee Peter Kabugo collapsed during a match between SC Villa and UPDF at Wankulukuku Stadium in Kampala on Friday. Kabugo fell in the 73rd minute while the score was 5-0 in favor of SC Villa.
Despite immediate medical attention and transport to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival, casting a somber shadow over the match.

Charles Lwanga shone with a remarkable performance, scoring four goals, including a hat trick, leading his team to a convincing 5-0 victory. This win lifted SC Villa to fourth place in the league standings.
As the football community mourns the loss of Peter Kabugo, SC Villa prepares for an important derby against rivals Express on November 8, while UPDF aims to regroup before their match against Mbarara City on November 6.
‘’FUFA is aware of an unfortunate incident about the sudden collapse of a match official during the Uganda Premier League match this evening at Wankulukuku Stadium,’’ FUFA confirmed in a brief statement.
FUFA however said that though the match official was taken for further medical management, he passed. ‘’Further details on this matter will be availed in due course,’’ it further said in statement.
