Masindi Kitara Diocese embarks on process of replacing Bishop Kasangaki

Bishop Kasangki revealed that he will begin his farewell tour of the diocese in December this year.

Masindi: Masindi Kitara diocese has begun the process of replacing Bishop George William Kasangaki, who will retire from the post in August next year.

Bishop Kasangaki will retire after clocking the mandatory age.

Ahead of his retirement, a 15-member committee has been instituted to nominate the candidates seeking to replace him.

Speaking during the ordination of six deacons and four priests in the diocese at St. Matthew’s Cathedral recently, George Kunihira, the diocesan chancellor who is also the chairperson nomination committee, told the congregation that they have started vetting the clergy in the diocese for the post.

He therefore asked the Christians to provide the committee with information pertaining to the morality and integrity of the clergy in the diocese to help it to know more about the people interested in the position.

Kunihira also appealed to the Christians in the diocese to pray to God so that the diocese can get the right replacement for Bishop Kasangaki through a peaceful process.

Speaking during the same service, Samuel Peter Ayebale, the chairperson for the committing and organizing Bishop Kasangaki’s farewell and the consecration of the new bishop, told the congregation that the diocese launched a budget for the ceremony late last month that will be funded by the Christians in the diocese, appealing for their generous contribution to enable the diocese to have a colorful event.

Ayebale revealed that 47 million shillings were realized in cash and pledged during the budget launch, and that several other people have made pledges in the form of physical items toward the event.

Bishop Kasangki revealed that he will begin his farewell tour of the diocese in December this year in Nyantonzi and Bugungu archdeaconries.
