Hundreds throng Masindi Hill following reports of appearance of Virgin Mary

Believers were praying and singing worship songs in the area at the time of filing this story.

Masindi: Hundreds of people from Masindi district and beyond are thronging a hill in Rwensa cell, Nyangahya division, Masindi district to have a look at what is believed to be the Blessed Mother Mary who is said to have appeared there.

The Blessed Mother Mary is reported to have been seen first by a man who was grazing cows near the hill Thursday evening, who later informed others, triggering the mass movement to the area.

One of the women who went to the area first reportedly got possessed by the Holy Spirit, who ordered her to inform Francis Ogenmungu, a Catholic from Kabalye cell, Karujubu division, Masindi, who had  reportedly been praying to the Blessed Mary since August this year.

Ogenmungu, who was also at the site, told this publication that he easily believed the woman’s words since he had been praying for the Blessed Mary’s intervention, and he went with his area catechist to the site.

Ogenmuntu added that he immediately saw the Blessed Mother in a dark cloud dressed in shining colors with a white veil on her head.

John Kiiza, a teacher at Green Field Secondary School in Masindi municipality who was also at the site, also confessed to having seen the Blessed Mary.

‘’I have seen the Blessed Mary with my naked eyes,’’ he confessed.

Christine Akumu, a resident of Kabalye 1 Cell in Karujubu division, also confessed to having seen the Blessed Mary, saying she first saw a bright round light before the image of the Blessed Mary appeared.

Believers were praying and singing worship songs in the area at the time of filing this story.

However, Reverend Father Joseph Birungi, the Episcopal Vicar Masindi Vicariate, said he was planning to visit the ground to ascertain the situation and later report to the diocese.

In these Church-approved apparitions that began in 1981, the Virgin Mary appeared to young girls in Kibeho, Rwanda, under the name “Nyina wa Jambo,” that is, “Mother of the Word.”.

In the visions, the Virgin Mary reportedly asked for penance and fasting for the conversion of sinners and the frequent recitation of the Rosary.
