Two arrested for theft at Amuru district headquarters

Upon completion of the investigations, the case file will be submitted to the resident state attorney for review and legal guidance.

Amuru: Police detectives attached to the Amuru District territorial command are holding two suspects, Opio Joel and Okello Patrick, both aged 18, in connection with an alleged office breaking and theft at the Amuru District Local Government Headquarters.

According to ASP Ongom David Mudong, the Aswa West Police Spokesperson, an eyewitness, Madam Filder, a neighbor to the headquarters, observed the two boys climbing the chain link fence on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, which prompted her to notify the police about the suspicious activity.

David reported that police responded quickly to the scene, where the suspects were caught in the act of breaking into several office doors and windows.

He also noted that the overgrown state of the district local government headquarters, combined with the absence of a security guard, raises concerns about negligence among district authorities.

Upon completion of the investigations, the case file will be submitted to the resident state attorney for review and legal guidance.

Those found directly or indirectly culpable in this incident will be brought before the courts to answer the charges in accordance with the law.
