He said the suspect was arrested from Kiboga by police officers from Kabasekende.

Kibaale: Police in Kibaale district are investigating circumstances under which a suspect committed suicide in the police cell of Kabasekende Police Post.

Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, has identified the deceased as Peter Musinguzi, 30 years old, a resident of Kigoro Village, Kabasekende Parish, Kabasekende Sub County in Kibaale district.

Hakiza told journalists on Tuesday that it’s alleged that on July 27, 2024, the deceased was given money amounting to $2.5 million by a woman only identified as Jude.

‘’After receiving the above amount of money, the deceased instead ran to Kiboga district,’’ Hakiza said, adding that the owner of the money, Ziah Bwambale, contacted him through his known contact number and was unavailable.

The regional police mouthpiece said the suspect was arrested from Kiboga by police officers from Kabasekende.

‘’After his arrest, the suspect was detained at the Kabasekende police cell, where he hanged himself to death using his shirt from the cells between the nights of 13th and 14th of this month.’’
