He adds that no suspect has been arrested in connection with the gun’s disappearance at the time of filing this story.

Masindi: Police in Masindi are investigating a case where unknown people allegedly stole a gun from a private security guard.

According to Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, the incident happened on July 5, 2024, when Peter Okeng, a security guard attached to Caracen, a private security company, reported for night duty at the Masindi Post Bank branch with a pistol registration number of UG P.S.O10026906273.

However, Hakiza revealed that towards midnight, Okeng was seen by fellow security guards behaving crazily, and when they tried to find out what had happened, he instead took off.

It is alleged that Okeng took off after realizing that his gun was missing.

Hakiza says that police have mounted the hunt for Okeng and the gun while at the same time investigating the circumstances under which the gun disappeared.

He adds that no suspect has been arrested in connection with the gun’s disappearance at the time of filing this story.
