PDM: Kitgum receives Shs3.6bn for the second phase

Kitgum: Kitgum District has received 3.6 billion shillings as part of the second phase of the Parish Development Model (PDM) funds.
This announcement was made recently by Alex Opira, the Kitgum District Principal Commercial Officer, who also serves as the district PDM Focal Point Person, during a joint PDM stakeholders review meeting held at the district RDC Boardroom.
According to Opira, each of the 72 parishes in Kitgum has received a disbursement of 50 million shillings, which is half of the estimated 100 million shillings for the beginning of the second phase of PDM.
He added that some sub-counties and parishes in the district have already completed enterprise profiling. Opira urged stakeholders to prepare beneficiaries for the entire 100 million shillings, as the full disbursement is expected soon.
The Kitgum District Chief Administrative Officer, Mrs. Abyeto Stella, mentioned that the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Local Government has directed them to document and profile success stories on the Parish Development Model for government bulletins.
She also informed the PDM officers at the parish level that they should expect the required gazettes to arrive soon, although there may be delays.
Mrs. Abyeto further advised them to utilize the available resources as the government plans to equip them and deploy PDM extension workers.
Hon. Arwai Christopher Obol, the Kitgum District LCV Chairperson, recognized the active participation of the sub-counties and parish stakeholders in the first phase of the PDM implementation.

The politician noted that the district has progressed from the establishment stage to the stabilization stage of implementation, despite initial challenges at the inception of PDM.
Obol pledged to prevent any further issues with the PDM, urging the Chief Administrative Officer to ensure that officers follow the correct procedures with continuous engagement in mindset change and development.
