MP Asinasi calls for construction of maternity ward at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital
Bunyoro sub-region is celebrating Women’s Day without a decent maternity ward, which she says is so painful.
Hoima: As women celebrated their day on Friday, the Hoima Regional Referral Hospital administration has been called upon to work tirelessly to make maternity ward construction a reality.
In her women’s day message, Asinasi Nyakato, the Hoima city woman member of parliament, disclosed that they have been getting information that the maternity ward construction is ongoing, but to her dismay, no construction work was being done when she visited the hospital on Saturday, 2nd of this month.
Nyakato says the Bunyoro sub-region is celebrating Women’s Day without a decent maternity ward, which she says is so painful.
The legislator, however, requested that the women also empower a boy child for the betterment of the family.
She continued to request that the ministry of health approve the required funds needed for the construction of the maternity ward so as to curb the number of women who die while giving birth in the region.
The politician called upon men to continue maintaining a violence-free environment for women and also advised women to have respect for their husbands for a peaceful home and family.
Nyakato advised men to strongly support their women and girl children and give them a chance to work and learn different skills because they are the people who help the family so much, especially when the man breaks down.
