Kikuube: Police in Kikuube district are investigating the circumstances under which four people died in two separate accidents on Sunday.
Three people died on the spot in Kyangwali-Kyarushesha along Hoima-Butole Road after the vehicle they were traveling in overturned.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, identified the deceased as Nyansio Twinomujuni, 38, a resident of Kibaale village in Butole parish; Bahati Walen, 26, a resident of the same village; and Ethien Munyeshule, 35, Kyarushesha.
Hakiza said that a vehicle registration number of UBJ 774H Toyota would cause a head-on collision with motorcycle number UFW 809U Bajaj.
He explained that the driver from Butole to Hoima violated the traffic rules and knocked the motorcycle rider, thus the vehicle overturned due to a head-on collision.
The police officer asserted that the bodies of the two people in the vehicle were given to their relatives for decent burial, while the bodies of the motorcyclist were conveyed to Kikuube Health Center IV pending identification.
Still in Kikuube district, police are hunting for Elijah Wobusobozi, a driver attached to Hoima Sugar, for causing an accident that claimed the life of one identified as Kenneth, a sugarcane cutter attached to the same company.
Hakiza revealed that the accident happened at around 5:30 p.m. on Kiswaza Road in Kiswaza village, involving a tractor Mahindra with registration number UBN 755Q belonging to Hoima Sugar.
He said that the driver was overspeeding and the vehicle overturned, hence killing Kenneth instantly.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kikuube Health Center IV pending proper identification and a postmortem.
He says efforts to apprehend the suspect, who is Elijah Wobusobozi, are on.
