ARLPI observed that war has negative impacts on humanity and peace.

Gulu: The religious leaders in Acholi, under their umbrella, the Acholi Religious Leaders’ Peace Initiative (ARLPI) have appealed to all the warring nations across the globe to abolish war saying it is against God’s will and is affecting humanity.
Formed in 1999, ARLPI is an umbrella organization of all the major religious denominations in Northern Uganda, including Catholic, Pentecostal, Protestant, and Islamic faith groups. Its goal is to pursue peace both locally and globally.
The ARLPI position was pronounced in December 30, 2023, during their end-of-year message themed “Action for Peace.”
The message was read by the Gulu archdiocese bishop, His Grace Dr. John Baptist Odama, who is the chairperson of ARLP, from his residence at For God in Bardege-Layibi division of Gulu city.
ARLPI observed that war has negative impacts on humanity and peace; therefore, the appeal to the nations that are still engaging in war is to abolish it for the betterment of humanity and the promotion of global peace.
The religious peace organization urged everyone in the world to join them in a continuous prayer for world peace and harmony, especially in the territories rampaged by war and violence.
Some of the nations that are persistently engaging in war include western Uganda, which is experiencing persistent attacks by the Allies Democratic Force (ADF), Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Malai, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Somalia, and Sudan.
Other warring nations are southern Sudan, Cyprus, Iraq, Israel, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Turkey, Yemen, western Sahara, Afghanistan, India, Myanmar, Pakistan and the Philippines, Russia and Ukraine, Mexico, Mexico Columbia, among others.
When interviewed recently by ugreports.co.ug, Dr. Tolit Charles Atiya, a war analyst and co-founder of Nile Valley Institutes for Policy and Security Studies, attributed major causes of war, rebellion, and uprising across the globe to scramble for leadership, natural resource conflict, wealth, and struggles to expand political boundaries among other reasons.
ARLPI reveals that they continue to offer their joint prayers to the almighty God/Allah, touching the hearts of the leaders and the people in those nations to heed the call for dialogue as the lasting solution for peace and harmony in those countries.
