Masindi: A woman believed to be in her mid-30s is in critical condition after being hacked in the northern cell, also known as the senior quarters, in Masindi central division, Masindi district.
The unidentified victim was hacked by unknown people in the bush near Masindi district health offices Tuesday night, inflicting deep wounds on her body, including the face.
Baker Mansur Kyamulesere, the area LC1 defense secretary, told ugreports.com that he discovered the woman at around 7 a.m. this morning while on his way to his workplace.
Kyamulesere believes the woman, who was necked, was first raped by her attackers before hacking and leaving her in the bush near the road.
Denis Mayanja, the area LC1 chairperson who condemned the act, said this is the 8th of similar nature that has left several people dead in his area.
Mayanja blames the acts on the bushy environment in the area after some landowners in the area refused to slash their plots.
The chairperson also blames the acts on the lack of security lights in the area, which he said aids the criminals in engaging in the evil acts.
The residents who were at the scene also blamed the incidents on the bushy environment, relaxed security, and lack of security lights in the area.
Police from Masindi Central Police Station had taken the woman to Masindi main hospital for treatment.
We could not get a comment from the police on the matter, as Albertine Regional Spokesperson Julius Allan Hakiza said he had not gotten any information about it.
