Masindi: Kabalye Police Training School in Masindi District has received an admission ward worth Shs60 million from Centenary Bank to improve healthcare services for police trainees, officers and residents of surrounding communities.
The facility, equipped with eight beds and other medical equipment, was donated under the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Centenary Bank Managing Director Godfrey Byekwaso said the school approached the bank after identifying the need for an admission ward to cater for the increasing number of trainees requiring medical attention.
Byekwaso said the bank allocates 1.5% of its annual profits to initiatives supporting education, healthcare, financial literacy and environmental conservation, among other areas.
He commended the partnership between Centenary Bank and the Uganda Police Force, saying the donation demonstrates the bank’s commitment to improving lives through community support initiatives.
Receiving the facility on behalf of Inspector General of Police Abbas Byakagaba, the Director of Crime Intelligence, Maj. Gen. Christopher Damulira, thanked Centenary Bank for its continued support to the police.
Damulira said the admission ward would provide long-term healthcare services to police personnel and members of the surrounding communities.
He pledged that the facility would be properly maintained and used for its intended purpose, adding that electricity and water would be connected to ensure it becomes fully operational.
Meanwhile, Kabalye Police Training School Commandant Patrick Lawot Akim applauded Centenary Bank for its continued support to the institution, including previous donations of tents, computers and dustbins.
Lawot said the school accommodates large numbers of trainees and trainers, noting that the new admission ward would strengthen healthcare delivery at the institution.
He added that the facility would also benefit residents of surrounding communities who seek medical services at the school, improving access to healthcare in the area.
