Kampala: The Muhoozi Kainerugaba (MK) Movement has warned National Unity Platform (NUP) Party President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, against the politics of blackmail.
The movement led by the Igara County East MP, Hon. Michael Magara Mawanda, refuted the allegations by Bobi Wine that President Museveni, General Muhozi Kainerugaba, and the Army issued directives stopping him from attending the Busoga Royal Wedding on Saturday last week.
“We would like to categorically state and inform the country at large that Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba had nothing to do with Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s absence at the Royal Wedding. The organizing committee of the wedding invited some members of the Central Committee of the MK Movement, and the cards are here in our possession,’’ Mawanda said, adding that their chairman was invited as a pencil guest of His Royal Highness the Kyabazinga and was requested to speak on behalf of the friends of His Royal Highness the Kyabazinga.
Mawanda went on to ask Kyagulanyi to find other reasons to use as to why he did not attend the wedding of His Royal Highness, the Kyabazinga.
“It is so sad that Mr. Kyagulanyi continues to use Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba as a reason for his own underdoing and weaknesses, and we hereby dare challenge him to name the person who told him. Kyagulanyi should know that Ugandans have long moved away from the politics of blackmail, idle talk, and theater,” added Mawanda.
Mawanda went on to ask Kyagulanyi to stop the politics of calling names, making insults, and telling lies about people who seemingly disagree with his political views, and also apologize to the Kyabazinga and people of Busoga for such insults.
“They started with attacking the Katiikiro of Buganda and the Nabagereka, accusing them of deliberately refusing to take His Highness the Kabaka of Buganda for treatment. They went on and demonstrated in the US, where the former Speaker of Parliament of Uganda had was flown out for treatment. They have now reported insulting Highness the Kyabazinga and the people of Busoga,” disclosed Mawanda.
Early this week, the National Unity Platform (NUP) party leader Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, while addressing the media at their party headquarters in Makerere Kavule, alleged that he was blocked from attending the recent Kyabazinga royal wedding, citing frustrations imposed by the regime as the primary reason for his absence.
