Mugasa pledges to strengthen development in Bunyoro

“If we are to achieve meaningful progress, the kingdom must be stable and properly organized,” she said.

Hoima: Hon. Grace Mary Mugasa, the newly appointed State Minister for Bunyoro Affairs, has pledged to focus on strengthening cultural institutions and accelerating development across the Bunyoro sub-region.

Speaking to journalists during a press conference held at Kolping Hotel on Thursday evening, Mugasa thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for entrusting her with the role.

She said her first priority as State Minister for Bunyoro Affairs would be supporting cultural institutions, noting that the development of Bunyoro depends on a well-functioning kingdom.

Mugasa explained that if Bunyoro is to achieve meaningful progress, the kingdom must remain stable and properly organized.

“If we are to achieve meaningful progress, the kingdom must be stable and properly organized,” she said.

The minister added that advancing development across the region would remain her top priority, covering areas from Karuma to Muzizi. She noted that she is familiar with all parts of the sub-region and understands the challenges affecting residents.

Mugasa called upon the people of Bunyoro to work closely with her, stressing that although the region has a budget, more effort is needed to deliver tangible results.

She also emphasized the importance of guidance from President Museveni in transforming the region, especially at a time when the Omukama’s health remains a concern.

The minister further announced plans to hold consultative meetings aimed at identifying pressing issues affecting residents. Among the priorities, she highlighted land security through empowering communities to acquire land titles.

Mugasa also revealed that government plans to subdivide large administrative units in order to bring services closer to the people.

According to the minister, several development projects are expected to be implemented in Bunyoro, including improvements in road infrastructure and the upgrade of Hoima Regional Referral Hospital among other initiatives.
