Kakumiro teacher arrested for sodomizing P7 pupil

Kakumiro: Police in Kakumiro are holding Mr. Robert Nkumire, a teacher at Busanga Primary School and a resident of Kasambya, for allegedly sodomizing a seventh-grade pupil.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, explains that the incident happened on the 8th of this month when the above teacher asked the victim, a 17-year-old pupil of the same school, if he had ever used a condom.
Hakiza told www.ugreports.com on Monday that after the victim denied using a condom, Nkumire then told the boy to fix time and meet him at his home, and hours later the teacher sent the cook to call the boy for him.
‘’Nkumire drove the boy to his home in Kasambya, where he sodomized him at around 19 hours in the evening,’’ Hakiza said.
The regional police mouthpiece asserted that the victim reported the incident on the 9th of this month to his school head teacher, who advised him to report the matter to his parents after the primary leaving exams.
According to Hakiza, it has also been established that Nkumire is a habitual offender who defiled another boy in 2022 from Kirasa primary school in Kakindo Sub County, and he was arrested and released from court.
About the Anti-Homosexual Act, 2023
The Anti-Homosexuality Act, 2023, restricts freedom of speech on LGBT civil rights and introduces harsher penalties for certain types of homosexual acts. On March 21, 2023, the bill was read a third time and was then sent to President Yoweri Museveni for assent. On April 21, 2023, Museveni returned it to Parliament, which passed it again with minor amendments on May 2. On May 26th, Museveni signed the bill.
The Act prescribes life imprisonment for sex between two people of the same biological sex and the death penalty for aggravated homosexuality.
The latter offense includes serial offenders, same-sex rape, and sex in a position of authority or procured by intimidation, sex with persons older than seventy-five, sex with the disabled and mentally ill, and homosexual acts committed by a person with a previous conviction of homosexuality.
Further, under its provisions, the promotion (including normalization) of homosexuality is punishable by imprisonment for up to 20 years and fines.
