He added that the State Minister for Sports, Peter Ogwang, recently commissioned the construction of training grounds earmarked for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, including Masindi Stadium. The commissioning event was held at Makerere University Sports Grounds.

Byamukama said they are now waiting for the Minister of State for Sports to officially hand over the site to the UPDF Engineering Brigade to begin construction works.

He also applauded the government for the construction of Hoima City Stadium as well as the planned development of Masindi Stadium.

Byamukama further revealed that government officials will soon inspect and identify hotels that will host visitors during AFCON. He added that the government will support hotels that do not meet the required standards to upgrade their facilities.

He said the construction of the stadium will create employment opportunities for the local community and urged residents to prepare and take advantage of the opportunities that will arise.
