Masindi RDC warns school administrators against denying candidates PLE papers over fees

Masindi: The Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Masindi, Sanon Dhaala, has warned the school administrators in Masindi district against denying primary seven candidates Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) papers over school dues.
Primary Seven candidates have today (Wednesday) started doing their PLE with mathematics in the morning and social studies and religious education in the evening.
Integrated Science and English will be done on Thursday in the morning and evening, respectively.
On this note, Dhaala says no school administrator should deny candidates PLE papers due to the balance of the fees, saying it’s against the law and vowing that those who deny candidates PLE papers will face the law.
He has asked parents to support and give their children ample time during the PLE examination time and make sure they complete school dues so that the children are not disturbed during the examination period.
Dhaala also cautioned candidates to be disciplined, work hard, be safe throughout the examination period, and avoid bad acts that may lead to school dropout.
Lawrence Byarugaba, the director of St. Lawrence Nursery and Primary School, says they won’t deny the candidates who haven’t completed the school dues.
He noted that they completed the syllabus, done enough revisions, and the candidates are ready to sit for their final exams and maintain their position as the best school, like in the 2022 PLE results.
Shamim Aliguma, the head teacher of Masindi Islamic Primary School, says they have 30 candidates and they are prepared for the exams since they have done a lot of revisions, and they hope their candidates will perform better because they have done whatever it takes for their candidates to pass.
Fred Isingoma, the head teacher of Asaba Primary School, also said they have 30 candidates and they have prepared them for the final exams, thus expecting them all to pass in first grade since they have had enough revisions for them.
According to Joseph Isingoma, the Masindi district sports officer, 3,086 pupils were registered for the primary leaving examination for the academic year 2023.
During this year’s district mock examinations, 1,057 pupils were ungraded, 52 missed, 291 passed in first grade, 843 passed in division two, 383 passed in third grade, and 456 passed in division four.
Isingoma explained that the pass rate was at 64%, stressing that though the results are above average, they are not still pleasing since their pass rate for PLE 2022 was 88%.
