TERRIBLE! Kibaale man kills lover, hangs self

Kibaale: A gruesome murder has shaken the residents of Bujogoro Village, Nyamarunda Sub-County, Kibaale District.

Jovia Tukamusaba, a 27-year-old woman from Kikora Village, Kakindo Sub-County, was found brutally murdered and her body dumped behind a bar in the same area.

According to Desteo Tugume, the LCI Chairperson of Bujogoro Village, he received information about the murder at around 6:00 am on Tuesday morning.

He immediately informed the police, but moments later, he received another report that a man had committed suicide in a nearby house.

The suspect, identified as Alifunsi, was found dead in his rented house in Bujogoro Trading Center, having allegedly hanged himself using bed covers.

His particulars are yet to be identified, as he was new to the area.

Residents of Bujogoro Village are attributing the tragedy to domestic violence.

Visensio Sekyanzi, a resident of Bujogoro Village, said that it was not the first incident, noting that similar murder cases occur in the area every year.

He urged the police to strengthen security in the community.

Abigaba Asiimwe, another resident, attributed the rampant murder cases to multiple love affairs.

He said, Local leaders should always be vigilant to new entrants in the community.

The father of the deceased, Alitukunda John, expressed shock and grief over his daughter’s death.

He said that his daughter’s behavior had been changing day and night, which might have led to her death.

He appealed to the government and police to carry out thorough investigations and provide a clear report on the cause of her death.

Mark Okwakol, the Officer-in-Charge of Kibaale Central Police Station, and Benjamin Orishaba, the Assistant CID Officer, also appealed to community members to report domestic violence cases to the relevant authorities for timely intervention.

By press time, two suspects, including an elderly man from Kiryanjagi village Kabamba Sub County in Kagadi District, had been arrested to assist with investigations.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Kibaale Health Centre IV for postmortem examinations.
