Fire engulfs Adjumani hospital staff quarters

Preliminary investigations indicate that the cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities are working to establish what triggered the blaze.

Adjumani: Police in Adjumani District are investigating a fire outbreak that destroyed staff housing at Adjumani General Hospital.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. on November 8, 2025 in the Central II Cell, Central Ward of Adjumani Town Council.

According to SP Collins Asea, North West Nile Regional Police spokesperson, the fire completely engulfed a staff quarter block comprising two units.

“A patrol vehicle was promptly dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found that both units were fully engulfed in flames,” SP Asea said.

Efforts to contain the fire using a handheld fire extinguisher were unsuccessful due to the intensity of the blaze, leaving the units completely destroyed and reduced to ashes, he added.

The total value of the property destroyed is yet to be determined, as the affected staff are still in shock and unable to provide detailed information.
