Minister Mutuuzo pays courtesy visit ahead of 10th Karamoja Cultural Festival

Nakapiripirit: The Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development (Gender and Culture), Hon. Peace Regis Mutuuzo, has paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Nakapiripirit District, ahead of the much-anticipated 10th Karamoja Cultural Festival.
During the visit, held in preparation for the festival set to take place in Nakapiripirit, Hon. Mutuuzo met with members of the Central Organising Committee to review progress on the event’s planning and logistics.
She was warmly received by RDC Ajilong Bessie Modestar and her deputy, Komakech S. Stephen, who assured the minister that Nakapiripirit is calm, peaceful, and ready to host guests from across the country and beyond.
“The people of Karamoja are peaceful, welcoming, and eager to host the nation,” said RDC Ajilong. “We thank the Government under the able leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the stability that has made such festivals possible.”
Ajilong also called on the residents of Karamoja and neighbouring communities to show their appreciation by offering 100% support to the President in the upcoming elections.
In her remarks, Minister Mutuuzo applauded the President for his unwavering support toward the Karamoja Cultural Festival, confirming that he is expected to attend this year’s edition as Chief Guest.
“The President’s consistent support has helped preserve and promote cultural heritage in Karamoja,” said Mutuuzo. “I also thank the people of Karamoja for standing by the government and embracing peace and development.”
Nakapiripirit District LCV Chairperson, John Nangiro, thanked the government for the financial support amounting to UGX 90 million, which he said has greatly facilitated the ongoing preparations.
“We are grateful for the government’s commitment. With the support received, we are confident this will be the most successful cultural festival yet,” Nangiro stated.
He also commended the district security teams for ensuring a safe and secure environment for both organizers and guests.
Now in its 10th edition, the Karamoja Cultural Festival is an annual event that showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Karamoja sub-region.
It brings together communities from across Uganda and neighboring countries to celebrate unity, diversity, peace, and cultural identity through traditional music, dance, crafts, food, and dialogue.
