Two on run over murder of 20-year-old in Kagadi
“After a serious scuffle that went on for nearly 30 minutes, the victims were rushed to Muhorro Community Health Centre,” Mayor Nangonza said.
Kagadi: Police in Kagadi District are on the hunt for two individuals, including a local businessman, in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old man and the critical injury of two others in Muhorro Town Council.
The incident occurred on the evening of August 25, 2025, in Kihereza Cell, Kisweka Ward, within Muhorro Town Council.
It is alleged that a group of youths returning from trade show (Sakaasi) encountered Johnbosco Tuhungirehe, a businessman and produce dealer, guarding his maize in the courtyard. A heated altercation ensued.
The deceased has been identified as Alfred Mugisa Ahimbisibwe, a 20-year-old resident of Haikona Cell, Mabira Town Council, Kyenjojo District, who had been working in the Kihereza area of Kagadi District.
The other victims have been identified as Innocent Bareke,16, a resident of Kyema Village, Mairirwe Sub-county, Kagadi District and a yet-to-be-identified male, who was also seriously injured in the scuffle.
According to Nangonza Godfrey, the Mayor of Muhorro Town Council, eyewitness accounts indicate that the quarrel lasted approximately 20 minutes before Tuhungirehe allegedly used an iron bar to strike the victims.
“After a serious scuffle that went on for nearly 30 minutes, the victims were rushed to Muhorro Community Health Centre,” Mayor Nangonza said.
Ahimbisibwe was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the facility, while Bareke was transferred to Buhinga Regional Referral Hospital in Fort Portal for further treatment. The second victim remains unidentified and his condition is unknown as of press time.
Mayor Nangonza condemned the act, urging the public not to take the law into their own hands.
“We call on the public to exercise restraint and report grievances to authorities instead of resorting to violence,” he added.
Meanwhile, Francis Asiimwe, a resident of Muhorro, claimed that the suspect Tuhungirehe is a known marijuana user, suggesting that substance abuse may have played a role in the attack.
Police are continuing their investigations, and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects who fled the scene.
