Five arrested over charcoal in Adjumani
"At approximately 4:30 PM, officers from Adjumani Central Police Station, led by the DPC, acted on credible information regarding the movement of a Fuso truck loaded with charcoal," Asea explained.
Adjumani: Authorities have confirmed the arrest of five suspects in Pakele Town Council, Adjumani District, on August 25, 2025, for illegally harvesting and transporting forest products, including 90 bags of charcoal.
According to police, the 90 bags of charcoal belong to a known charcoal dealer in Adjumani, identified as Asisa Glofa, who is currently in custody.
North West Nile Police Spokesperson, SP Collins Asea, identified the suspects as Muwonge Samuel 42 from Luwero, Mugisha Fred 28 from Isingiro, Michael 31 from Isingiro), Kibirige Alex 25 from Luwero, and Asisa Glofa, all detained at Adjumani Central Police Station (CPS).
SP Asea stated that the suspects were apprehended at approximately 4:30 PM by officers led by the Adjumani District Police Commander (DPC) after receiving credible information about a Fuso truck with Motor Vehicle Registration No: UBP 355S, transporting charcoal from Ofua toward Pakele Town Council.
“At approximately 4:30 PM, officers from Adjumani Central Police Station, led by the DPC, acted on credible information regarding the movement of a Fuso truck loaded with charcoal,” Asea explained.
