Byamukama confident after nomination, urges Kitagwenda to shun self-seekers
“We can differ in opinion, but let us avoid personal attacks. Politics should be about ideas, not insults,” he said.

Kitagwenda: Hon. Joseph Nulu Byamukama, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Kitagwenda County, has officially been nominated to contest in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Speaking shortly after the nomination exercise on Monday, Byamukama expressed confidence and gratitude, describing the process as peaceful and well-organized.
“Let me make it clear, the nomination exercise has gone on very successfully. Those who doubted my capacity to be nominated have been silenced. Kitagwenda knows its leaders,” he told journalists.
Byamukama used the occasion to dismiss political rivals’ claims that he would be blocked from the race, and urged for a more civil and ideas-driven campaign season.
“We can differ in opinion, but let us avoid personal attacks. Politics should be about ideas, not insults,” he said.
The legislator, who is seeking re-election, reaffirmed his commitment to championing national development projects for Kitagwenda. He cited the tarmacking of the Kitagwenda Road, a key infrastructure pledge made by President Yoweri Museveni, as a top priority if re-elected.
“Kitagwenda needs a strong and vibrant leader, not someone chasing personal gains. I have been engaging national leadership, and I assure you the Kitagwenda Road project is on course,” Byamukama emphasized.
He also cautioned voters against being misled by what he termed “self-seeking politicians” lacking clear developmental agendas.
“We must choose leaders who are people-centered those who serve, not those who want to be served. My record speaks for itself, and I remain committed to advancing the development of Kitagwenda,” he added.
Byamukama’s remarks come amid rising political tension in the district, with multiple aspirants eyeing the parliamentary seat. Despite the heightened competition, he believes his experience, track record, and strong national networks give him a clear advantage.
The NRM primaries in Kitagwenda are expected to be highly competitive, but Byamukama remains confident that voters will once again place their trust in him to deliver transformational leadership.
