Minister Babalanda urges creativity among women in Buyende

“Every time we make an appeal, she listens and helps us,” he said.

Buyende:  The Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Milly Babalanda, has called on women in Budiope West to embrace creativity and innovation as powerful tools for transforming their communities.

She made the remarks during a community engagement tour in Buyende District on April 22, 2024.

Hon. Babalanda, widely recognized for her efforts in grassroots development, emphasized her commitment to the health sector.

She highlighted the successful provision of ambulances to the region, including one acquired through fundraising that is stationed in Bukungu, and another kept on standby at Kidera Hospital.

“These ambulances are here to serve our people. Unfortunately, some individuals chose to sabotage this effort by vandalizing one of the vehicles,” she said. “Such behavior is satanic and counterproductive. Those involved will be dealt with accordingly.”

She added that she is lobbying for another ambulance to further boost healthcare access across Buyende District.

Minister Babalanda also reiterated her support for religious institutions, revealing that she had recently donated four motorcycles each to Islamic and Catholic leaders in the area.

She pledged to extend similar support to Protestant, Seventh-day Adventist, and other denominations to aid in spreading the gospel and reaching wider communities.

During the event, the Speaker of Buyende Town Council appealed to the minister to support the Boda Boda community, and raised concerns over the lack of electricity in Makanga Town. He noted that limited local revenue makes it difficult to fund street lighting and other essential services.

In her response, Hon. Babalanda reassured the community that electrification efforts are underway. Areas such as Liringa East, Kiteizele, Kabonge Trading Centre, Nabigwo Town Council, Butayugwa A & B, and Nawasoso A are all set to benefit from upcoming power installations.

Mr. Lugonda Ronald, Headteacher of Wisdom Junior School in Makanga, expressed deep appreciation for the minister’s consistent support.

“Every time we make an appeal, she listens and helps us,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy RDC Buyende, Mr. Mathias Naikoli, welcomed the minister’s visit and pledged continued cooperation with the Office of the Presidency to promote development in Buyende and Budiope West.

As political momentum builds ahead of the NRM primaries, the Busoga region is becoming increasingly vibrant, with local leaders and communities actively engaging in development discussions and grassroots mobilization.
