Paidha and Padea share the spoils in tense West Nile derby

This result mirrored last year’s first leg in Padea Town, where the two teams also played to a 0-0 draw.

Zombo: In a highly anticipated West Nile derby, Padea Rising Stars and Paidha United SC played to a hard-fought 1-1 draw in an electric match at King Stadium Cana, Paidha United’s home ground, on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

Both teams entered the game with plenty to prove Padea, sitting fourth in the standings, and Paidha United, just one place behind in fifth. The match proved to be a tense affair, with both teams pressing early.

Paidha United were relentless with their set-piece efforts, creating multiple chances through free kicks and corner kicks, but despite their efforts, they couldn’t find a breakthrough.

The visiting side, Padea Rising Stars, remained resilient, with their goalkeeper Mungacel being a standout performer. He produced an incredible save, punching away a powerful shot from Paidha’s Bright, keeping the hosts at bay.

The breakthrough came in the 35th minute when Padea’s star forward, Ramadan Nenungo, scored a sensational volley from outside the 18-yard box.

His thunderous strike beat Paidha keeper Hebert Ofoymungu and nestled into the top right corner of the net, sending the Padea supporters into a frenzy.

However, Paidha United didn’t give up and bounced back after the break. In the 55th minute, their midfield dynamo Zaza leveled the score with a perfectly placed low-driven volley that beat Mungacel, ensuring the hosts were back in the game.

The match grew more heated as the game wore on. Paidha’s center-back Jerry Kumakech was booked for a late tackle on a Padea defender, and soon after, Padea’s PRO, Oscar, was sent off after a fiery outburst following a foul on Ramadan. Oscar’s red card left the visitors to finish the match with ten men.

Padea’s Ramadan had a golden chance to give his side the win but missed a sitter inside the box, much to the frustration of his team. On the other end, Paidha’s Ronie also squandered a chance to put his team ahead.

Late in the match, Paidha keeper Hebert Ofoymungu made a crucial save, denying Padea a potential match-winner. With that, the match ended 1-1, leaving both teams with a point apiece.

This result mirrored last year’s first leg in Padea Town, where the two teams also played to a 0-0 draw.

In other Big League action, Paidha Black Angels FC secured a valuable away point, drawing 2-2 with Mityana’s Ntungasaaze FC. Meanwhile, Onduparaka FC’s struggles continued as they fell 2-1 to Gadafi FC, adding more pressure to their season.
