Additionally, he urged the President to appoint more Muslims to top government positions to ensure fair representation.

Masindi: Muslim clerics in Masindi District have called on President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to pardon and release their imprisoned colleagues.

The appeal was made on Sunday during the celebration of Eid Al-Fitr, with religious leaders emphasizing the need for mercy and justice.

Sheik Umar Okecka urged Hon. Dr. Balaam Barugahara, the Minister of State for Children and Youth Affairs, to intervene and request the President’s forgiveness for their colleagues.

At Masjid Taqwa Mosque, Masindi, Sheik Ssekide Habibi pleaded with the President to release those who are innocent so they can return to their families and provide support.

Sheik Yahaya Ssozi, the Chairperson of the Masindi Town Mosque Muslim Community, expressed concern that many Muslims remain behind bars without ever being brought before court.

He called on the judiciary to expedite their cases so they can know their fate, while also appealing to the President for a pardon.

Additionally, he urged the President to appoint more Muslims to top government positions to ensure fair representation.

Meanwhile, Mustafa Mugenyi, the County Khadi for Buruli County, emphasized the importance of unity between Muslims and Christians, stating that they are all descendants of Adam and Eve.

He made these remarks on Saturday during the last Iftar Dinner of Ramadan, hosted by Julius Mugisa, the Director of Lady Doves FC, at his home in Kigezi Village, Buruli Constituency, Masindi District.

Mugenyi expressed disappointment over religious divisions, saying it is unfortunate that different faiths are in conflict despite their shared origins.

Julius Mugisa applauded the Muslim community for attending the Iftar dinner and encouraged them to remain united.
