Taxi undergoing road test rams into parked mini tipper in Kitgum

Authorities urge motorists to ensure vehicles are in sound mechanical condition before conducting road tests.

Kitgum: A road test for a taxi ended in an accident on Thursday evening when the vehicle rammed into a parked mini tipper along Pager Crescent Road in Kitgum Municipality.

The white taxi  with registration number UAN 223A was being driven by a mechanic for testing when it lost control and crashed into a stationary white mini tipper with registration number UAE 265M.

The accident occurred at the junction of Ogwok Road and Pager Crescent Road on Friday, March 28, 2025.

No injuries were reported, but both vehicles got stuck on the pavement.

Kitgum Traffic Officer Elisha Twongyeire stated that a suspected mechanical failure in the taxi’s steering system may have caused the crash.

The mechanic behind the wheel fled the scene immediately after the accident, and authorities are now working to locate him.

Efforts are in progress to remove both vehicles from the scene using cranes to restore normal traffic flow along Pager Crescent Road.
