Minister Otafiire urges Ugandans to vote out under-performing leaders in 2026
"Leaders should focus on solving people’s problems rather than creating them. Leadership is about service, not personal enrichment," he stated.

Kagadi: The Minister of Internal Affairs, General Kahinda Otafiire, has urged Ugandans to replace underperforming leaders in the upcoming NRM primaries and the 2026 general elections.
Speaking on Sunday during a fundraising event for the construction of a clergy house at Nyaigana Archdeaconry in Kyanaisoke Sub-County, Kagadi District, Otafiire emphasized that leadership should be about service, not personal gain.
“Leaders should focus on solving people’s problems rather than creating them. Leadership is about service, not personal enrichment,” he stated.
The Buyaga East Constituency, where the event took place, is currently represented by Hon. Musana Eric.
The event successfully raised over UGX 53 million to support the construction of the clergy house.
The chief fundraiser, Stephen Twesige Rulekere, an aspiring Member of Parliament for Buyaga East, also used the occasion to express gratitude for the gift of life.
The fundraising event began with prayers led by the retired Bishop of Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese, Rt. Rev. Samuel Kahuma Abwooli.
In his sermon, Bishop Kahuma encouraged people to give back to God, citing Twesige’s contribution as a model of generosity and faith.
The function attracted religious leaders, community members, and local politicians, showcasing strong community support for the initiative.
