Dozens escape death as HMK bus overturns in Agago

The accident scene was visited by IP Wambi and his team, and the bus was towed to Kalongo Police Post for inspection as investigations continue.

Agago: Passengers aboard an HMK bus narrowly escaped death after the vehicle overturned in a road accident on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in Akedo South, Kalongo Town Council, Agago District.

The bus, registration number UAU 079Q, an Isuzu model painted blue and yellow, was en route from Kalongo Town Council to Patongo when the accident occurred.

According to IP Oloya Joe, the Aswa East Regional Police Spokesperson, the accident was caused by a sudden failure of the bus’s lighting system, making it difficult for the driver to see the road.

As a result, the bus veered off the road and overturned, injuring three passengers.

Those injured in the accident include; Koffi Bosco, a driver with Agago local government, Kizza,  the bus driver and an unidentified female passenger, who was rushed to an undisclosed clinic with minor injuries.

IP Oloya stated that a system failure or brake malfunction is suspected as the cause of the accident.
