Buliisa: Two unidentified individuals lost their lives in a tragic road accident after a Tata truck overturned at Butiaba escarpment on the Hoima – Butiaba – Wanseko road.
According to Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, the fatal accident occurred on Monday at one of the sharp corners along the Butiaba escarpment.
The accident involved a white Tata vehicle, registration number UBM 241G, which was traveling from Biiso town and loaded with Bidco products.
Brake failure is suspected to have caused the driver to lose control, leading to the overturning of the truck.
“The truck, traveling from Biiso Town and loaded with Bidco products, failed to brake, resulting in a terrible overturn at the escarpment,” Hakiza explained.
The impact of the crash was fatal, instantly killing two people on the spot.
“The accident resulted in the deaths of two individuals the driver and another person, believed to be the turnboy,” Hakiza added.
He confirmed that the main cause of the accident was brake failure, which led to the truck rolling multiple times down the valley.
“The accident was caused by the truck’s brake failure, which led to it overturning several times in the valley,” he noted.
