SAD! Man dies of excessive alcohol consumption

Pader: A 70-year-old man, identified as Okello Joseph, a resident of Kiteny West Village, Kiteny Parish, Ogom Subcounty, Pader District, has reportedly died after excessive alcohol consumption.
According to Aswa East Acting Police PRO, IP Oloya Joe, the incident occurred on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the home of Ataro Julia, where Okello and several others were drinking.
While the other individuals left for their homes later in the night, Okello remained behind and continued drinking.
On the morning of February 28, 2025, Tolit, the son of Ataro Julia, called Ochan Gibson, informing him that Okello appeared to have passed away. Upon arrival, Ochan found the deceased lying lifeless outside the house.
Otto Charles Lalobo (45), a resident of the same village, reported the sudden death to authorities.
The district Scene of Crime Officers (SOC) visited and examined the scene, documenting evidence and recording witness statements.
Remaining alcohol (waragi) was recovered for forensic analysis.
The deceased’s body was taken to Pajule Health Center IV for a postmortem examination.
IP Oloya Joe confirmed that investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of death.
“We urge community members to consume alcohol responsibly and seek immediate help if someone exhibits signs of excessive intoxication,” he stated.
