Zombo: Preparations are in high gear for a historic royal visit as the Paramount Chief of Acholi, His Highness David Onen Acana II, meets with Alur King, His Royal Majesty Philip Olarker Rauni III.
The much-anticipated visit is set to take place on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Alur Kingdom’s Royal Palace in Atyak Winam, Zombo District.
His Highness Rwoth Acana II will lead a 16-member Acholi royal delegation to engage with Ubimu of Alur, His Royal Majesty Rauni III, Alur royalists and government officials.
In a March 2 press release, Alur Kingdom Spokesperson David Rupiny outlined the main topics of discussion which include; report on the Luo Convention held in Siaya County, Nyanza, Kenyam, establishment of the Luo Convention Uganda Chapter and matters of mutual cooperation between the two cultural institutions.

The visit of Rwoth Acana II is seen as a significant milestone in strengthening the deep-rooted genealogical, historical, and cultural ties between the Alur, Acholi, and other Luo-speaking tribes.
Beyond cultural bonds, the meeting is expected to lay the foundation for collaboration in the areas of development and socio-economic transformation for both the Alur and Acholi peoples.
