Alur Kingdom, Jonam Chiefdom plan partnership framework for collaboration

The Alur Kingdom is one of 17 cultural institutions officially recognized by the Government of Uganda.

Pakwach: The Alur Kingdom and Jonam Chiefdom have agreed to develop a partnership framework to strengthen collaboration between Alur Kingdom and Kaal Ker Kwaro Jonam (KKKJ).

This decision follows a productive dialogue between representatives of the Alur Kingdom and traditional leaders under Kaal Ker Kwaro Jonam, held on February 15, 2025, in Puvungu, Pakwach Town Council, Pakwach District.

The Alur Kingdom delegation was led by Prime Minister Prince Lawrence Opar Angala Jalsonge and included Minister of Culture and Legal Affairs Bob Opio, Minister of Lands, Production, and Natural Resources John Pascal Wapokrwa, and Cabinet Secretary Emilio Odongo Wathum.

In a statement, Alur Kingdom spokesperson David Rupiny described the engagement as fruitful, emphasizing that “the peoples have much more in common, hence the move to deepen common ground and unity.”

The Jonam delegation, led by Rwoth Opar Fred of Panyigoro, also included Secretary General Rwoth Stanley Ombidi of Ker Kwonga and First Deputy Prime Minister Okwong Silvius Pawele.

According to the Alur Kingdom spokesperson, Jonam traditional leaders welcomed the spirit of engagement demonstrated by the Ker Alur team, noting that dialogue is essential for fostering mutually beneficial relationships.

“The Kaal Ker Kwaro Jonam team agreed to work collaboratively with the Alur Kingdom as development partners in Alur land,” he added.

The Alur Kingdom is one of 17 cultural institutions officially recognized by the Government of Uganda.

The discussions mark a step forward in strengthening ties between the two cultural entities, aiming for long-term collaboration and development in the region.
