Lamwo woman stabbed to death over Shs10,000

Lamwo: A tragic incident occurred in Kaugoli South Village, Pawoja Parish, Potika Subcounty, Lamwo District, where a woman was fatally stabbed following a domestic dispute.
According to Aswa East Regional Police PRO, IP Oloya Joe, the deceased, identified as Amony Jackline, 25, was allegedly killed by her husband, Olweny Alex, 42, both residents of the same village.
The couple had gone to Anek’s Bar in Potika Trading Centre on the night of February 9, 2025, where they bought drinks and started drinking. A disagreement soon arose over Shs10,000, which Olweny had given Amony earlier to buy medicine for their child.
During the argument, a man identified as Oringa Patrick arrived and spoke with Amony, further aggravating Olweny. Enraged, he pulled her outside the bar and demanded the exact Shs10,000 note he had given her at home.
Later that night, Amony agreed to return home with Olweny to get the money. However, about 150 meters from the bar, he stabbed her, killing her instantly.
IP Oloya Joe confirmed that a case of murder was registered at Lamwo District Central Police Station. The incident was reported by Opio Bobi Francis, 30, a resident of Dog-Gudi A Village, Paloga Parish, Paloga Subcounty.
Police from CPS Lamwo and Paloga Police Station visited and documented the crime scene, recorded witness statements, and arrested the suspect.
