Suspected Karamojong rustlers shoot one dead in Agago

Oloya confirmed that the crime scene was visited, documented, and witness statements were recorded.

Agago: In the early hours of Monday, February 10, 2025, a man was shot dead by suspected Karamojong rustlers in Wipolo Central Cell, Laimuto Town Council, Agago District.

According to the Aswa East Regional Police Spokesperson, IP Oloya Joe, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. when the suspected rustlers attempted to steal goats that were tied under the verandah of the deceased, Mr. Oryang David, aged 39.

Upon hearing voices outside, Mr. Oryang stepped out to investigate, only to be shot in the head by the suspects in front of his house. The attackers then stole one goat and an Itel phone before fleeing the scene.

A murder by shooting case was reported by Mr. Otim Colgate Adamoi, 54, a resident of Wipolo Central Cell.

The deceased’s body was still at the scene pending a post-mortem examination by the time we filed this story. Four cartridges were recovered from the scene, and investigations are ongoing.

The community and local authorities are shocked by the violent incident, and investigations are expected to shed more light on the attackers’ identities and motives.
