Ntungamo: Authorities at Itojo Hospital in Ntungamo District are grappling with the challenge of handling two unclaimed bodies currently decomposing in the hospital mortuary.
According to Ntungamo District Communications Officer, Mr. Anthony Kushaba, the deceased are male adults, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old.
The bodies remain unclaimed as authorities await relatives to come forward.
The two victims were involved in a fatal accident on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Abatanyata in Rubaare Town Council, Rushenyi County, Ntungamo District.
They were traveling on a motorcycle (Registration No. UFE 361S) when it collided with a Toyota Hiace (Registration No. UBH 322W) that was coming from Ntungamo heading towards Kabale.
The motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction at the time of the crash.
Police have attributed the accident to reckless driving by the driver of the Toyota Hiace, who fled the scene and is still on the run.
Through Mr. Kushaba, Itojo Hospital authorities have made a public appeal for anyone with a missing relative or information that may help identify the deceased to visit Itojo Hospital or contact 0392993186 for further assistance.
If the bodies remain unclaimed, the authorities will proceed with burial at the cemetery.
For inquiries or information regarding missing persons, the public is urged to act promptly.
