This raid was prompted by community complaints about the "Kasoolo Group," which had been involved in robberies, phone snatching, and bag thefts.

Kampala: Police conducted two intelligence-led operations in Kampala on February 5, 2025, targeting areas with high criminal activity.

The first operation took place in Rubaga Division, near Monalisa Bar, between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. During the raid, five suspects Kawoya Vincent, Kitayibwa Wycliffe, Muhammad Ali, Abdil Wolly, and Eriya Kula (a known marijuana supplier) were arrested for offenses including robbery, marijuana possession, and drug use.

Authorities recovered marijuana, breaking implements, including a hammer, and other incriminating evidence. The suspects were charged accordingly and are currently in detention, awaiting court proceedings.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango, the second operation was conducted in Katooke A and Katooke B, Wamala Parish, Nansana Municipality, at around 4:45 p.m.

This raid was prompted by community complaints about the “Kasoolo Group,” which had been involved in robberies, phone snatching, and bag thefts.

During the operation, 24 suspects mostly youths were arrested. Police recovered various exhibits, including a bucket of marijuana, a motorcycle number plate, and additional breaking tools.

Some suspects were found to be non-residents of Nansana Division, while the community identified one of them as a habitual drug supplier.

SSP Onyango emphasized that these operations are part of an ongoing effort to restore law and order in these areas.
