Rotary Club honours Mbale resident for outstanding community service

"We are honored to recognize his outstanding contributions to our community."

Mbale: The Rotary Club Mbale City, District 9213, has awarded Mr. David Mabonga, Director of YMCA Mbale Branch, the prestigious Vocational Services Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to community development through proposal writing and the successful implementation of life-changing projects.

A resident of Bungokho sub-county, Mbale district, Mr. Mabonga has played a pivotal role in securing funding and spearheading numerous initiatives that have transformed the lives of hundreds in the region.

Some of Mr. Mabonga’s most impactful contributions include; importing four containers of donated educational materials from the USA, which were freely distributed to various schools in Mbale, implementing piped water systems in Mafutu-Namunyu and Nashikhaso-Khamoto, providing clean water to thousands of residents.

Others are; Securing educational sponsorship for bright and underprivileged students, including young women who have since become healthcare professionals, leading the execution of a $130,000 water project in Bugusege, funded by Rotary International, supporting 700 children in five primary schools with school fees, uniforms, meals, and scholastic materials and also assisting 44 farmers with essential inputs to enhance productivity in Bungokho.

The Rotary Club Mbale City, District 9213, acknowledged Mr. Mabonga’s dedication to uplifting the community, emphasizing that his efforts have significantly improved education, water access, and livelihoods.

“Mr. Mabonga’s achievements are a shining example of the impact one person can have when they dedicate themselves to serving others,” stated Mr. Aliwaali Kizito, President of the Rotary Club Mbale City and Chief Resident State Attorney.

“We are honored to recognize his outstanding contributions to our community.”
