1,500 Women in Ngora District Equip Themselves with Leadership Skills and Knowledge of Government Programs

The Jacqueline Amongin Development Foundation (JADEF), in partnership with the Ministry of Gender and the Ngora District Local Government, conducted a financial literacy training and awareness campaign for women in Ngora district, highlighting opportunities within the GROW project.

Nearly 1,500 women attended this impactful event, which focused on leadership skills, climate action, women’s education, and available government programs.

The training emphasized the importance of information, especially for rural women who often lack access to technology. A key aspect of the session was encouraging women to make effective use of the Parish Development Model (PDM), an initiative aimed at improving their livelihoods.

Through JADEF’s efforts, these 1,500 women leaders completed a two-day leadership training, gaining valuable insights on various topics such as leadership, climate action, and government initiatives.

Hon. Jacqueline Amongin, who serves as the Ngora Woman MP under the NRM Party, was recently appointed the Women’s Council Representative for the Teso sub-region and leader of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU). She played a prominent role in the event.

PLU leaders were tasked with engaging local stakeholders, mobilizing citizens, and promoting initiatives that align with Uganda’s Vision 2040.

JADEF continues to work closely with local communities to address pressing issues such as poverty, corruption, and the mismanagement of public resources, while empowering women to become leaders in their communities.
