Masindi: The Masindi district local government received 14 blood pressure machines from members of Friends of Masindi (FOM), a WhatsApp group.

The machines, worth 1.7 million shillings, were donated on Tuesday to the district’s health department in order to improve health service delivery.

The donation was delivered by Innocent Turyahikayo, FOM WhatsApp group co-administrator, and witnessed by other group members and district officials.

While handing over the machines at the district’s boardroom, Turyahikayo said that the funds to procure the machines were realized by the group members, and they will improve service delivery through supplementing the blood pressure machines the district has.

Musa Kyamiza, the representative from CAO’s office, applauded FOM for the good heart and efforts in saving the patients in Masindi district through the donations of blood pressure machines.

‘’We appreciate the donation; it’s not that you have adequate money; it’s because you have decided to share the little you have to save lives. It’s hard to receive such a donation, mostly during this post-COVID-19 era,’’ he commended.

He stressed that, as a government, they may not have the capacity to provide everything to the public, noting that implementing partners can support the government through such donations.

Sylvia Karungi, the Masindi district secretary for social services, health, education, and sports, commended FOM for the donation and pledged total support from the district, stressing that some health centers have been lacking such machines.

‘’Some health centers have been lacking blood pressure machines, and this donation will be extended to such health facilities, as the district we pledge to support you,’’ she pledged.

Karungi therefore called upon other partners to come on board and join efforts to improve the health sector in Masindi district.

Brian Mugisha, the Assistant District Health Officer (DHO) In-Charge of Maternal and Child Health, told ugreports.co.ug that Masindi district general hospital will get three blood pressure machines, while each health center III will get one.

He also commended FOM for the donation, saying that when they get more blood pressure machines from the government, they will be allocated to health II’s in the district.
