This effort signifies UNFPA's commitment to strengthening GBV response systems and fostering equitable access to justice for vulnerable populations.
Kitgum: In a significant step toward combating Gender-Based Violence (GBV), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has donated 30,000 police medical forms to Kitgum Central Police Station (CPS).
The donation, made on November 28, 2024, includes 7,500 copies each of Police Forms 3, 3A, 24, and 24A, alongside GBV response materials and referral pathway charts.
Receiving the items, Kitgum District Police Commander SP Oyesigye Peter expressed gratitude, highlighting how the contribution would address gaps in form availability and enhance police service delivery.
Hon. Arwai Christopher Obol, Kitgum District LCV Chairperson, acknowledged the critical impact of the donation on addressing GBV-related challenges. He urged the police to distribute the forms freely and appealed for additional resources, such as photocopying equipment, to ensure sustainability.
Hajji Marijan Walire, Kitgum District Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC), underscored the need for strict accountability, emphasizing that GBV victims must not incur any costs for accessing these resources.
“The majority of Kitgum’s population is financially disadvantaged; these forms must remain free of charge,” he stated.
Cinderella Anena, Programme Analyst for Delivery of Rights at UNFPA, highlighted that the donation aligns with global activities marking the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
This effort signifies UNFPA’s commitment to strengthening GBV response systems and fostering equitable access to justice for vulnerable populations.
