Two dead, 10 injured in separate Masindi accidents

Masindi: Two separate accidents in Masindi have resulted in two fatalities and ten injuries.
In the first incident, two teenage boys were killed when a speeding lorry struck their motorcycle on the Masindi-Biiso road.
The accident occurred in Kinogozi cell, Karujubu division, around 7 PM on Friday.
Eyewitnesses reported that the lorry, carrying bagasse from Kinyara Sugar Factory, dragged the victims several meters before coming to a stop.
Solomon Asiimwe, the LC3 Chairman for Karujubu Division confirmed the incident and said traffic police rushed to the scene and the bodies were taken to Masindi Hospital mortuary.
‘’Police rushed the to the scene, conveyed the bodies to Masindi Hospital mortuary and the badly damaged motorcycle and lorry were also towed to Masindi Central Police Station,’’ he added.
In a second accident, ten people were injured when a vehicle heading from Kampala to Masindi veered off the road and crashed into a tree in Bigando Cell, approximately five kilometers from Masindi town.
John Kabwijamu, the LC1 Chairman for Bigando Cell confirmed that while all occupants sustained serious injuries, there were no fatalities. The injured were promptly taken to health centers in the area.
Police had not yet released statements regarding either incident at the time of reporting.
