TotalEnergies offers Nursing & Midwifery scholarships to 100 students in oil-rich districts

Buliisa: As the country approaches the oil and gas production phase, TotalEnergies EP Uganda has launched a one-off Nursing and Midwifery Scholarship Program for 100 students from six key districts in the Albertine region.
The district include; Buliisa, Nwoya, Pakwach, Masindi, Hoima, and Kikuube.
The initiative is part of the company’s commitment to improving access to quality education and promoting careers in healthcare, particularly in communities directly affected by oil and gas activities.
Speaking to this publication on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Christopher Ocowun, the Public Relations Officer for TotalEnergies EP Uganda, confirmed that selected students will be enrolled at St. Mary’s Lacor School of Nursing and Midwifery in Gulu District and Hoima School of Nursing and Midwifery in Hoima District.
“Buliisa and Nwoya districts will each receive 20 slots, while Hoima, Kikuube, Pakwach, and Masindi will each have 15 slots,” Ocowun explained.
He emphasized that the selection process is ongoing, and the scholarships will cover full tuition fees, scholastic materials, pocket money, medical insurance and transport costs.
“We encourage the youth in the eligible districts to embrace this unique opportunity, which not only offers financial support but also opens doors to professional growth in the health sector,” he added.
