The initiative marks the company’s 100th anniversary, with a total of 100 students sponsored across six districts: Hoima, Kikuube, Masindi, Pakwach, Buliisa, and Nwoya.

Hoima: TotalEnergies EP Uganda, in partnership with Winning Generation Organization, has awarded full nursing and midwifery scholarships to 30 students from Hoima and Kikuube districts.
Fifteen students were selected from each district and are scheduled to report to the Hoima School of Nursing and Midwifery on Monday, July 21, 2025.
Speaking during the scholarship handover event held at the Hoima District Headquarters in Kasingo, Innocent Mbabazi, coordinator of the program, said the scholarships are part of TotalEnergies’ commitment to give back to communities affected by oil and gas activities in the Albertine Graben.
The initiative marks the company’s 100th anniversary, with a total of 100 students sponsored across six districts: Hoima, Kikuube, Masindi, Pakwach, Buliisa, and Nwoya.
According to Mbabazi, Buliisa and Nwoya which are closer to major oil and gas operations each received 20 scholarship slots, while 15 students each were selected from Hoima, Kikuube, Masindi, and Pakwach.
The scholarship program, which spans two and a half years, covers full tuition and other academic costs. Mbabazi urged the beneficiaries to focus on their studies, warning that poor academic performance, indiscipline, or suspension from school could lead to termination of the scholarship.
Robert Kyomuhendo, Senior Inspector of Schools for Hoima, commended TotalEnergies for easing the financial burden on parents. He encouraged families to continue supporting their children throughout the program.
Several beneficiaries and their families expressed their gratitude. “My dream has always been to become a nurse. This scholarship gives me a chance to make that dream come true,” said Sunday Kennedy from Kigorobya Sub-county.
Norah Kaahwa, a student from Buhanika, and Violet Byaruhanga, a guardian from Mpaija Cell in Kasingo, both thanked TotalEnergies for the opportunity.
Byaruhanga, who is a retired grandmother caring for an orphaned student, shared her heartfelt appreciation. “I wouldn’t have been able to afford my granddaughter’s tuition. This scholarship has given our family hope.”
