Terego teacher arrested for defiling his own daughter
A case of aggravated defilement was registered and is being investigated under reference number 05/12/03/2024.
Terego: Police in Terego district have arrested and detained a 45-year-old teacher on allegations of defiling his own 17-year-old biological daughter.
The suspect has been identified as Adio Caleku, a teacher attached to Wandi Primary School and a resident of Wandi teacher’s quarters, Anavu Parish, Katrini Sub County, Terego District.
Caleku was arrested on March 12, 2024.
Josephine Angucia, the West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson, explained that the report was made at Katrini Police Station by a social worker attached to Peace for Women, a community-based organization.
Angucia disclosed that a case of aggravated defilement was registered and is being investigated under reference number 05/12/03/2024.
The regional police mouthpiece added that they arrested the suspect from the school and detained him at Katrini Police Station pending transfer to Terego District Police Headquarters, Omugo, for medical examinations and further investigations.
Meanwhile, the biological mother of the victim was picked for a statement at the police station, and she alleged that it was in the year 2022 when the victim complained to her paternal uncle that the suspect defiled her several times at various places, including Yelulu village in Odupi Subcounty, Terego District.
According to the police, the victim’s mother said that at the moment the victim is staying with her elder sister in Omugo subcounty, Terego District.
Angucia told this publication that from there, the victim will be taken to Omugo Police Station for a statement and medical examinations.
