Terego RDC reaffirms commitment to fighting corruption
He stressed that collective effort is key to creating a corruption-free society founded on the rule of law and respect for human rights.
Terego: The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Terego, Godwin Angalia Kasigwa, has pledged a resolute stand against corruption in the district.
This declaration came during a visit on Tuesday, where he and a team of officials conducted spot checks at Addu Primary School and Cilio Health Centre III.
“During our visit, we addressed critical issues such as teacher absenteeism and the deployment of unqualified staff at the health center,” Angalia stated, emphasizing the need for accountability and transparency in public service.
Angalia described corruption as a “cancer” undermining the nation’s progress and called on the community to join forces in combating it for improved service delivery.
“We reinforced our commitment to the Zero Tolerance to Corruption Policy, a key government initiative launched in 2019 to curb corruption and ensure effective service delivery,” he added.
Following the inspections, the team convened a boardroom meeting to map out strategies for tackling the identified issues. This collaborative approach highlights their dedication to fostering good governance and eliminating corruption.
Angalia’s visit coincided with an ongoing assessment by a team from the Inspectorate of Government, led by Deputy Inspector General of Government Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe, focused on evaluating service delivery and anti-corruption efforts in the West Nile region.
He urged unity in upholding the principles of the Zero Tolerance to Corruption Policy and its associated National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) 2019/20-2023/24, stressing that collective effort is key to creating a corruption-free society founded on the rule of law and respect for human rights.
