Teachers missing on EMIS portal to forget salaries

Now, teachers must ensure their information is genuine and promptly submitted to avoid disruptions in salary payments.

Masindi: The Ministry of Education and Sports has issued a stern warning: teachers in government education institutions who fail to upload their data on the Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) portal by April 15, 2024,will be removed from the payroll.

This move aims to ensure accurate funding for capitation grants, which has been hampered by inaccurate data from government-aided schools.

The four-day EMIS data upload training, currently underway at the Masindi municipal council hall, emphasizes the importance of timely and accurate data submission.

Sam Ayebale, the principal education officer for Masindi municipal council, urged participants to approach the exercise with care and attention to avoid future regrets.

Teachers’ salaries for April 2024 will be directly tied to the data uploaded on the EMIS portal.

Ayebale highlighted that EMIS has significantly streamlined data collection compared to the manual process of filling out forms. However, some head teachers initially overlooked the importance of uploading pupils’ data on the EMIS portal when it was first introduced.

Now, teachers must ensure their information is genuine and promptly submitted to avoid disruptions in salary payments.

As the ministry relies on this data for indicative planning figures in the upcoming financial year, teachers’ cooperation is crucial.
