Tarmacking of Rubaare Central Road kicks off
He also asked them not to be a stumbling block to the development in their area.
Ntungamo: Rubaare town council authorities have embarked on tarmacking Rubaare central road, Amon Muhumuza writes.
The road stretches from off Mbarara-Kabaare high way near Leisure Village Hotel and Bar, crossing the center of Rubaare town council again, down to the main high way Mbarara Kabale opposite Tangaza Hardware.
While addressing the Rubaare Towon council residents on a community basis last evening, the town council engineer, Mr. Moses Twiine, accompanied by the town clerk, confirmed that a 1.116-kilometer road is now under construction and is going to cost 900 million shillings.
Mr. Twiine said that works to be done on the road include bush clearing, grading, excavation to level, gravelling, priming, road sealing, chippings, and drainage improvements, among others.
Twiine said some of the materials have already been procured and are parked at the town council headquarters; they include stone dust, aggregates, culverts, and others.
The funds are from the Uganda Road Funds through the Ntungamo district local government, and they have so far received 450 million shillings from the release of two financial years, 2023/2024 and 2024/2025.
Mr. Emmanuel Byamukama, the town clerk of Rubaare town council, called on the road users to embrace the government projects to bolster development in their locality, adding that road networks help in linking their products to the final consumers and leading markets.
He also asked them not to be a stumbling block to the development in their area.
The mayor of Rubaare town council, Mr. Benson Kansiime, challenged the town council dwellers to borrow a leaf of development from other town councils and follow suit.
He also appealed to them to stop criticizing the authorities over the demolished temporary structures during road grading.
